Golf in Doonbeg

Golf
A 10 minute drive will take you to the renowned Doonbeg links golf course, luxury Hotel and Spa or to the beautifully located links course in Kilkee. The other renowned golf courses in Kilrush, Spanish Point and Lahinch are all less than half an hour from the house. Ballybunion in County Kerry can easily be reached via the Shannon Car Ferry.

Walking & Cycling on our side roads

Walking and Cycling
Kilometers of quiet country roads make for perfect walking and cycling. There's a coastal walk on the other side of the beach, ideal for evening walks to enjoy the gorgeous sunsets. Cliff walking along beautiful Blue Pool and the Baltard Cliffs are also possible a couple of minutes from the house, but should be done with great care - especially with children.

Dolphin & Bird watching
Dolphins regularly appear in the waters near the house. Tours for watching the Dolphin families in the Shannon Estuary take place from Kilrush Marina and from Carrigaholt. The whole of Loop Head Peninsula is also a great place for birdwatching!

Watersports
White Strand is a 'Blue Flag' beach and supervised in season. It is also a great beach for surfing and seakayaking. Children will love to explore the rock pools when the tide is low. Doughmore Strand can be seen on the other side of the bay and is famous for surfing, for its beautiful sand dunes, for long beach walks and horse riding. Kilkee's beach is just 10 mins away and provides safe swimming in the sheltered bay. Kilkee also has an indoor pool, which is open in summer.

The Loop Head Peninsula

Sightseeing
Kilkee is starting point of the Loop Head Drive leading along spectacular cliff scenery to Loop Head Lighthouse. The bustling market town of Kilrush with it’s beautiful marina is just 15 minutes drive away. Boat trips to Scattery Island commence in Kilrush Marina. The town of Miltown Malbay is hosting the annual Willie Clancy Summer School each July which attracts thousands of visitors who are passionate about traditional Irish music and dance. The famous Cliffs of Moher and its state of the art interpretive centre Atlantic Edge is also only a 40 min. drive away. Doolin is only a few minutes further north and is the gateway to the Aran Islands, with boats departing from the pier several times a day. Last not least there's the Burren, famous because of its beautiful limestone landscapes and the remarkable flora of the region as well as its rich archaeological heritage. It is the finest example of a karstic terrain in Ireland, with a full assemblage of the curious landforms and subterranean drainage systems that characterise these limestone terrains.
